Just a heads up to everyone who uses public transit; Septa will be on strike effective 3AM Tuesday.

This strike does not effect regional rail, only bus, subway, & trolley.

Yeah, it was an unpleasant surprise for me as well this morning Smiley

At this point, we don't know for sure how long the strike will last (hopefully it will be over quickly).

In case it does last through Zenkaikon, and anyone was relying on public transit to get there, I have researched the options that are still available.

The SEPTA Regional Rail system will continue to run during the strike, as they are part of a different union. SEPTA has a number of regional rail lines that provide service through the city and suburbs. All of these rail lines also pass through Center City Philadelphia. For a listing of rail lines, stops, and schedules, see here: http://septa.org/service/rr_schedules.html

Below are three suggested options:

Option 1: The R6 Norristown Regional Rail line stops at the Norristown Transportation Center, as well as 11th & Market Sts (Market East Station), 16th & Market Sts (Suburban Station), and 30th Street (Amtrak) Station. The Norristown Transportation Center is only 4.5 miles from the Radisson Hotel. Across the street from the Center is a taxi stand where you should be able to hire a taxi to take you to the convention. Schedules and stops for the Norristown line are available here: http://septa.org/service/sched/pdfs/R6Ntown.pdf

Option 2: Bus route 125 to the Radisson will continue to run, but will be beginning its route at Villanova Station. It will not be stopping in Center City or Wissahickon Transportation Center during the strike. The R5 Paoli/Thorndale train stops at Villanova Station, in addition to 11th & Market Sts (Market East Station), 16th & Market Sts (Suburban Station), and 30th Street (Amtrak) Station. Schedules and stops for the R5 Paoli/Thorndale are available here: http://septa.org/service/sched/pdfs/R5PT.pdf . Schedules and stops for Bus route 125 are available here: http://www.septa.org/service/sched/pdfs ... _x/125.pdf

Option 3: Tropiano Transportation provides shuttle service between Philadelphia International Airport, 30th Street (Amtrak) Station, and the Radisson. The cost is a flat rate of $30 per person. Reservations are required in advance. Their number is: 215-616-5370.

I am offering rides to Zenkaikon. I have three open spots. Just message me if strike is giving you a problem to get there. Septa made me angry this morning and was late for work because of this. I don't like to be late for anything. Luckly for me I have a cool boss that understands the situation that us riders must face right now. I hope it doesn't last a week like last time. PM before the spots are taken.

Septa is crazy for what they want. I wonder who's pulling the strings here Septa workers or management?

To anyone who missed the wonderful(albeit delayed) news in the wee hours of the morning; Septas transit union is off strike and service has been restored to all buses, trolleys, and subways.
http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/local_news/SEPTA_Transit_Strike_Is_Over

Please keep in mind that if you bought a weekly/monthly pass last week(between Nov. 2-8) that it expired today at 12PM. Please follow the instructions provided on the septa website for obtaining a new pass or partial refund.
