Location
The Meadowlands Exposition Center is located just 5 miles away from NYC and offers 61,000 square feet of event space. Located in The Plaza at Harmon Meadow, it is close to many hotels and restaurants, making the MEC a great venue for an anime convention. The MEC is also easy to get to by car or mass transportation via NJ Transit Bus #320 out of the Port Authority of NYC. It is also just a short ride away from NJ Liberty International Airport and easily accessible from just about anywhere in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut/Pennsylvania area. See our Directions section further down on this page for more detailed directions.
Located just down the street from the Meadowlands Exposition Center, the Holiday Inn Meadowlands is one of the official hotels of AnimeNEXT. Many of our events will be held at this Holiday Inn Meadowlands.

We should definitely meet up there (if I can go, I'm not sure yet)!
Do you mean the Hare Hare Yukai? It is really popular, but it's a lot of fun, and I don't mind teaching you at all :3

The Otaku Bus is going to AnimeNEXT!
This seems a little early, but we're gonna throw this out on the table now.
With the success of the Bus trip to Katsucon, we are exploring the same possibility for AnimeNEXT.
There are some logistics involved. The first being hotel rooms. Sare-chan is working on securing two rooms at a Marriot that is very close (as in 5 minutes) from the AnimeNEXT venue. She is working to see if the associates discount rate is available for us.
I am also looking at renting a van again, most likely from the same rental location we rented the van from for Katsucon. They seem reasonable and gave us a competitive rate.
The thing i need to know is interest in this venture. It will determine whether or not we get a 12 passenger van or a 15 passenger van, which will also dictate costs to a high degree. Parking is FREE at the marriot hotel. There will be an absolute maximum of 6 people per room, but actual numbers have not been determined yet. Please do not invite extra friends until we have a confirmation of room availability for the marriot or otherwise. There is an alternate plan in place, in case we can not secure two rooms at the marriot. However, using that plan will reduce the number of people that can come with us.
This is just an early suggestion to see what interest there is in attending this con as a group. Our transportation arrangements will be identical to those made for Katsucon essentially.
Comments and input welcome.

I am absolutely in for this! Me and Margie want to go up but we don't think that we can with just the two of us. (Taking the bus and getting a room by ourselves would be a hassle). Hopefully you guys will have room for us to join you. =)

You can definately count me in, Anime... Anime.... AnimeNext HOO!!
This time we need to do something fun and epic for the Otaku bus. All you artists out there, let's do an anime five foot wide poster that we can put on the side or back of the bus to let all the groupies know that the Philly Otaku are here!

@ Fuu and Jamie: If you're interested, you've done the right thing by posting here. This is mostly just a "let's see if this works" deal. I do know that van rental order placement needs to take place probably within the next couple weeks, by MArch 1st at the latest. The van rental place said the demand for vans picks up in the summer.
So based on the response, i'll know what size van to choose.
Please post here if you wish to take advantage of the Philly Otaku Ride and Room program for AnimeNEXT.

Is this open to anybody, or just raid members?
I haven't been able to attend any gatherings, so I haven't meet anyone yet.
If space allows I would LOVE to take part.

The otaku bus is open to all. The actual number of slots open will be determined once we find out the situation with hotel rooms. This thread is out there to see what interest there is in people wanting to take the otaku bus to animeNEXT. The otaku bus was a success for katsucon, so why not try it again for another con? We're just seeing who's interested, and to what level. Costs became very reasonable for katsucon, even with the van rental. With the hotel discounts for the rooms, the van retal and parking, and admission to katsucon, our costs were around $160 for the ENTIRE weekend. The rate for the convention at the hotel was $151 for ONE night. So wemade out like bandits for katsucon. We hope to do the same for AnimeNEXT.
Once we get information on hotel rooms, we will open an "Important AnimeNEXT Information" thread that will be identical to the Katsucon information thread we used for Katsu. Keep an eye on this thread for details as this trip is organized.

I definately want to go. But I'll hold off on wether or not I'll be taking up a bus slot this time around. Especially after now knowing my professor can just change their tests dates at will.
