The Philly Otaku strive to provide a safe and fun environment for all members to enjoy. To this end, we are drawing up a short list of General Rules and Guidelines that we expect ALL members to know and abide by. We ask ALL members to review and understand the General Guidelines. Please be aware that ignorance is no excuse, so you can't say that "you didn't know because you didn't read the rules." With that being said, we ask ALL Philly Otaku Members to abide by the following:

-We have a ZERO TOLERANCE for any of the following:

  • Drugs. Please refrain from having or consuming. Doing so will result in banning and the authorities will be contacted. This is for your protection and ours.
  • Alcohol Consumption on any kind in the presence of minors. The ONLY exclusion to this rule is if there is an exclusive 21+ gathering, where a state-issued photo ID with your birthdate clearly marked will be required to attend the gathering.
  • Sex. Obvious No-brainer here.
  • Violence. We will NOT tolerate any violent acts toward ANY member of the group based on sex, age, orientation, race, religious belief, or cosplay. Such acts will be dealt with severely. Consequences may include banning and the authorities will be contacted if required.

-We require Parental Consent for ANY minor under the age of 15 years to attend any event or gathering sponsored by the Philly Otaku. This is to make sure that parents are aware of your whereabouts and who you are with. This is for your protection as well as ours. If any event requires parental consent, appropriate information regarding such consent will be posted in the event thread. Information will include the exact details of the event, and a consent form that must be printed and SIGNED, and brought to the event. Failure to have appropriate consent will result in being turned away from the event. Note that if you are a minor, and your parents allow you to attend a gathering with older friends, a parental consent form will still be required to ensure your safety and well being. The ONLY exception to this rule is if your parent or guardian wishes to attend the event with you, in which case, no parental consent form will be required.

-By attending any Philly Otaku event, it is agreed that any photo, video, or likeness of yourself can be used on the Philly Otaku forum or website and/or any kind of promotion or banner, without express compensation. In general, if we take your picture, it may be put up on our website, or used in a banner image that promotes the Philly Otaku. If you DO NOT wish for your likeness to be used in any manner, you are free to ask that your picture/image not be used in any manner. We will then remove your image/likeness if it has already been posted or refrain from using it if it has not yet been posted.

-Please act resposibly. We ask ALL members to abide by common courtesy when attending an event. If you are cosplaying, the more professional you act, the more positive image you portray of cosplayers. Please be aware that acting in character while in costume is discouraged, because some attitude adjustments for certain character personalities can come across the wrong way. We also ask that ALL members follow any rules or regulations of any public area or park that we enter, and to be understanding if we are asked to move or leave an area. We WILL NOT tolerate people arguing or bad-mouthing an establishment or any uniformed security personnel. Such actions may get you banned from the group. Please treat others how you would like to be treated yourself.

-Keep in mind that we may exchange anime, mangas, dvd's or games with each other. Please treat a borrowed item as if it were your own. It would be fully understandable if you lent out a manga to someone and it was returned damaged. We appreciate anyone who is willing to allow others to borrow anime, manga or games to foster interest in a new series, view an anime someone may not personally have but someone else does, or play a game that he or she doesn't own, but is interested in. All we ask is that you treat other people's borrowed items as if they were your own. If, per chance, an item you borrow does get damaged, please resolve the issue in a civil manner between the two parties involved. Resolution should include some form of replacement or repair if need be.

-If an event is hosted at someone's house, please respect that property and treat it appropriately. We ask that all attendees to the hosted event abide by house rules and please be understanding of those rules. The host has the right to eject anyone who fails to abide by their house rules.

-Please abide by ANY rule or guideline posted within the Rules and Regulations Forum. Any rule or guideline may be changed at any time without notice.
